As noted previously, the Modern Warfare 2 open beta is divided into different sections, with PlayStation players getting the first crack at the game. PC and Xbox players will gain access the following weekend. Here are all the dates and start-times.

Infinity Ward also revealed Sunday the date for the Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer beta. PS4 and PS5 owners will have their first crack at the beta, with those who preordered Modern Warfare 2 getting early access starting Friday, Sept. 16, at 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET. All other PlayStation gamers can jump in the beta starting on Sunday, Sept. 18, and the test will last until Tuesday, Sept. 20. A PS Plus subscription isn't required to be part of the beta.

Of course, if you placed a Call of Duty pre-order this year, you're probably already enjoying the MW2 campaign early access, working through all that solo content and hunting for safe codes as you go. But multiplayer, as ever, is a huge part of the equation.
On that date, players can expect to jump into the new paid-for Call of Duty game in all its multiplayer glory. However, in terms of free-to-play content, it's worth knowing that the Warzone 2 release date will not occur until the following month.
And that's not all, as there will also be changes made to the weapon customisation, or Gunsmith as it's known here, while Ricochet, the anti-cheat system, will be in the game from launch, which is a move we fully support. Cheating in a solo game is one thing, but any true gamer will know cheating in multiplayer is one of the biggest gaming sins going.
There are also two new multiplayer modes: Knockout, a life-based mode where teams attempt to capture a package, and Prisoner Rescue, in which an attacking team attempts to extract a hostage. Co-op mode Special Ops will also be returning.
Starting today (15 December) you can download Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and get access to a limited-time multiplayer trial. You've got all weekend to really get stuck in too, just be aware that the free access ends on 19 December at 6pm UK time.
The Call of Duty blog confirms that the multiplayer weekend contains three maps: Farm 18, El Asilo, and Shipment. Introduced as part of the Season 1 Reloaded updated, Shipment is a familiar map given a fresh twist: it's set on a cargo ship this time around. Game-changing, I know.
